FOORDS BARN, Broughton, SO20 8AD

Foords Barn is situated in the garden of:
Foords Farm, Broughton, Stockbridge, Hampshire SO20 8AD

Foords Barn is the last building that remains on the site of an old village farmyard enclosed on three sides by well-preserved cob walls. The barn was used in the last century as a stable and a lot of the old features remain. The barn has recently been sympathetically converted into one bedroom self-catering accommodation.

Guests have the barn to themselves. The sitting room features a wood burning stove and a billiard table and is simply furnished with lime-washed cob walls and plain oak beams. Original double barn doors open out onto the lawn. Upstairs the large bedroom (one single and one double bed) enjoys a fine view of Broughton Down. In the kitchen the fridge is always stocked with fresh eggs from the hens pecking around outside.

During your stay you may make use of the lovely garden. Behind the old apple tree a door in the wall opens onto the traditional village playing field known as Fripp's Acre. It is a short walk from here to the foot of the Broughton Down, home to rare butterflies and bronze age tumuli. A track, part of the Clarendon Way, leads up to the old Roman road.
